Movies broken on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic)

Postby alain40 » Fri Dec 04, 2009 10:51 pm

About 3 out 4 times video crashes and Wahcade quits with the following message:

Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

If after starting Wahcade it works for one movie, then all movies work flawlessly after that.

May be related to the following bug: http://old.nabble.com/Troubles-with-gst ... 77568.html

Hi:

I am sorry it has taken so long for anyone to reply to this thread.

I tend to think that Gstreamer while great has some issues. I think that if Andy and you have the time perhaps you and he could go in detail into the issue and fix it. Until then I recommend staying away from the multimedia aspect of Wah!Cade if it continually breaks on you.

Yep. Just realised I get the same problem. I'm investigating, and I think the link you posted gives me a good idea of the fix 8) Watch this space...

The fix is in the code on launchpad. You can download the code with this command (assuming your registered on launchpad):
Code: Select all
bzr branch lp:wahcade

Hopefully I'll get a release out soon...

Thanks! But sort of fixed. The intro movie now plays but still no movie previews. This is what i get in the terminal:
Code: Select all
Error: Resource not found. gstplaybasebin.c(1660): gen_source_element (): /GstPlayBin:player
Any ideas?

Hmmm. Are your movie previews in a different format to the intro movie? I assume they all play OK in other gstreamer players (e.g. totem)?

Thank you for fixing this issue. The version on Launchpad works great.

All movies and previews work fine in totem. It's just that they aren't showing up in wahcade. The previews are in .avi the intro was a .mov
