[SOLVED] Lost the ability to use filters

Postby RomKnight » Fri Dec 07, 2012 11:35 pm

Hi,

I wanted to regenerate my filters in mame 147 and now I can't use wahcade-setup to, for example, generate a list only for fighting games.

I can't find anything about this that solves my problem (even reinstalled mahcade). already tried to debug the code to search where this is done but I can't follow it (no surprise).

I tried catver.ini and catlist from EmuCR but to no avail.

If anyone has an Ideia, PLEASE, let me know.

Here's what I see and notice on only "Display Clones" has the arrow to expand options:

this is a known problem with mahcade at the moment, i have looked into it a couple of times but have not managed to come up with a suitable solution. Still a WIP

Hi, this workaround may help.

Starting from scratch:
Start wahcade-setup,
add sdlmame emulator, and configure it (command line, artworks, among other on this section). This is very important: edit and save each list that you want to create. It doesn't matter if the list is empty (for now). Wahcade setup will ask if we want to save changes, we'll say yes. Don't forget to check that rom-path is correct.

Now we go on "extra" section and specify xml file. You can also generate it. In my case I don't use category / Version file and I delete it. Save setup.

Enter in filter setup and automatically an initial filter is generated, and we notice that we cant filter it. Close filter window.

You don't have to exit setup to go on, just close filters window.

Open your favourite file browser and get into wahcade "files" foler on $HOME/.wahcade/files and replace sdlmame-0.ftr with file attached at this post.
Now duplicate and rename this file following the pattern as many list as you have.

sdlmame-0.ftr
sdlmame-1.ftr
sdlmame-2.ftr
sdlmame-3.ftr
.....

Enter to filters setup again and generate filter. (you can also do this final step from the front-end if you want to)

Remember:
do not "reset the filter", just generate it, save and close.
List "0-all games" is no filtrable.

Observations:
The attached file was generated by an older version of wahcade, which I already have installed on my laptop with ubuntu 10.04. It's a simple text-file.
Xml file was automatically generated by wahcade-setup button.
I'm using ubuntu 12.04
M.A.M.E. v0.145 (Feb 10 2012) (from ubuntu repositories)
Wahcade version: "20111127mahcade"

I hope this help. After all wahcade is a nice great front-end!-
just keep running linux!
