how do i save high scores

I'm fairly new to Linux and I just found wah!cade. How can I get it to save high scores? I've read about hiscore.dat but i'm not sure where I need to save it. I'm using sdlmame.

hiscore.dat is a very old MAME tech. Current releases no longer support it. The preferred method now is to enable save states. Unfortunately not all games support save states yet.

Simply set "autosave 1" in your mame.ini and you should be set.

What is the good way today for this ?

"autosave 1" seems doesn't work, and history.dat provides only a resume for each rom
